Introducing the Oregon Travel Philanthropy Fund
Visitors can give back through this trailblazing program!
Travel Oregon, with support from Sustainable Travel International, is proud to introduce the Oregon Travel Philanthropy Fund. This Fund will support sustainable tourism development in Oregon by connecting businesses and travelers to projects that improve the natural environment and support local culture. It’s the first statewide program of its kind, another way to ensure that we will all be able to Travel Oregon Forever!

How the Program Works
Businesses work with their customers to raise funds for projects throughout the state. All the projects that have been selected are aimed at enhancing the natural environment or supporting communities in a way that also improves their appeal as a destination. Hoteliers who participate in the program have the opportunity to collect one-dollar add-on donations from guests to help fund these projects. If a guest isn’t interested, they can opt out.
Funds that are raised improve the community’s destination appeal, which makes for more rewarding tourist visits, and more clients for you – it’s a win-win-win!
Who can Participate
During the pilot phase of the program (2011-2012), we will work with lodging properties of all sizes to raise money from guest contributions. As the program evolves we will include other types of businesses such as restaurants, tour operators and retail stores. We also encourage individuals and corporations to donate to the fund directly.
